Guest House will finally step out on race day this weekend, and trainer Michael Kent Jnr believes the colt arrives ready after an important hit-out on Caulfield’s Heath track ahead of the Magic Millions Victorian 2YO Classic.
The $270,000 Home Affairs yearling produced a sharp trial at the same venue last Thursday, winning by 1-1/2 lengths and confirming his spot in the $250,000 Magic Millions event over 1100 metres.
Kent said the stable has been patient but believes the youngster is starting to put it all together.
“He’s got good talent, he’s a very speedy customer and we’ve done a lot of work on just getting him to harness his energy,” he said.
“From an outside draw he begun OK … then he mustered quickly without overdoing it and relaxed well outside the leader. He showed good stamina later to extend and win nicely.”
The trial also included Invincible Son, Sayalero and Oman, all potential rivals again on Saturday.
Guest House was initially targeting the Maribyrnong Trial Stakes but was withdrawn due to tight scheduling after multiple trials. A freshen followed, highlighted by a jumpout win over Milsons Point.
Saturday’s program also includes the Magic Millions Victorian 3&4YO Classic, headlined by the in-form Gin A Tonic.
