Icarian Dream is set to resume her Queensland journey with the Ciaron Maher stable preparing the filly for another tilt at Magic Millions riches.
The Blue Point three-year-old raced in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic last summer and will now look toward the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas next month.
A potential stepping stone comes in Saturday’s Listed Gold Edition Plate at Eagle Farm, where she is expected to be among the acceptors.
The filly won the Group 3 B J McLachlan Stakes on the same weekend last year, toppling Cool Archie, who may again take her on.
Icarian Dream is currently stationed in NSW and Maher Racing’s National Assistant Trainer Jack Turnbull said Saturday’s field would dictate whether she runs.
Her last outing produced a third placing behind Sheza Alibi in the Group 3 The Vanity during Cup week.
“We thought she was profiling exactly the right way before we gave her a break,” Turnbull said.
“She had a bit of a shaky period with an embargo getting to the races, but once cleared she’s been building nicely.
“She’s in really good shape … the Gold Edition is an option and then there are stepping stones leading into January 17.”
The team gave her a quick freshen before beginning her Guineas preparation.
“We tipped her out for a week … the goal has always been to get her back up there,” Turnbull said.
“She’s a Group 3 winner and hasn’t lost her ability. We just need to have her peaking at the right time.”
